Unite For Charity

If you were asked in a beauty pageant, “As an ordinary citizen of this country, how would you contribute to the wellness of the society?” Now, if you were to answer about youth empowerment, and actively participating in organizations, then you deserve an applause, you’re an idealist.
It’s good to know that you’re an idealist and you actually gave it a thought, but let’s be real, in our generation today, youth is not very active when it comes to joining organizations. Most of us would rather be glued in front of our computers and our eyes stuck on our smartphone screens. What do you think are the things teenagers do online? Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, name the like. Go on, ask around, how many organizations did they sign up for exactly? Have they visited any government facilities and be there personally to extend help? Bet you 10 dollars they said none and nah-uh.
On the other hand, if your answer to the question went something in between the lines of influence through social media and networking, you—my friend—don’t deserve an applause, but a standing ovation. I know it sounds crazy, social media and charity? Can it happen? Positive. One hundred and one percent positive.
Let me ask you, how did you know about the big party happening next week? I bet you heard it from your friends, read about it on Facebook, retweeted it on Twitter, watched the promo video on YouTube, it was in every corner of the social network, wasn’t it? I highly doubt you knew about it while reading a flyer on a bulletin board right across the street.
If you want to raise awareness about something, post it, tweet it, film it, upload it, and do whatever means to get it through social media and voila! It’s everywhere, and if you’re a lucky sport, it might even go viral! Remember how Alex from Target got his one way ticket to Ellen? One tweet, just one tweet from a random customer about him and BAM! He goes viral and takes his golden ticket to Ellen. You see, that’s how things travel these days, fly away flyers, and walk my way world wide web. Adios idealists and rock my socks realists!
People keep saying that teenagers who’s on their computer and smartphones the whole day—popularly known as ‘fangirls’—are wasting time being unproductive. Sounds pretty negative right? But guess what, we found a way to turn something negative into something positive.
Drum rolls, please! Let me introduce to you UNITE FOR CHARITY! By the name itself, it is about different fandoms and communities of all ages worldwide, coming together to raise money for the mental health charity—SANE— a UK-wide charity that seeks to improve the quality of life for those suffering from mental health illnesses. SANE offers emotional support through phone, social media, and an online forum. They also directly support fundamental neuroscience research alongside studies into treatments and therapies.
If you’re in a fandom, or even if you’re not and you would want to share your blessings and donate, please do. It will be very, very much appreciated. A small amount can make the biggest change in someone else’s life. Several small amounts combined will turn into big amounts, and big amounts will turn into humongous ones! Imagine how many people we could provide hope and happiness to! Imagine how much a simple action from you can turn someone else’s life around.
Remember, it may not mean as much to us, but it might mean everything to that person.
Every blessing we share, comes back to us a hundred-fold.
If you’re a cool, awesome, kick-ass generous person and you want to help these beautiful people, find out how you can donate here. If you want to share and help us raise awareness, click here.
To know more about SANE, check this out! We don't want to drive you insane not knowing where your money goes. (No pun intended.)
Spread this and reach out to as many people as you can! Share, retweet, reblog, spread, spread, spread!
Thank you so much for reading, you have no idea how heartwarming it is to be able to help.
Don’t underestimate the power of one click to change someone’s life.
“Helping a person will not necessarily change the world, but it will change the world for that person.”

Thank you so much to SJ, who let me write an essay/article about Unite for Charity. You are one of the most amazing and thoughtful person I came across online, hands down! Don't stop doing what you're doing, don't stop being SJ because SJ is cool af ;)
